Ben Cave AssociatesServices: Spatial Planning

BCA promotes health input into spatial planning.

This is a key arena for public health.

Public health often focusses on impact assessment as the key vehicle for addressing health issues. Impact assessment is an important part, but by no means the only part, of the planning process.

BCA helps bring the health dimension into the spatial planning arena, making sure that it fits with the models and mechanisms used by planning colleagues.

This enables health professionals to make a significant contribution to the visions, objectives and delivery of plans, programmes and projects.

BCA Project Profile

Project: Reuniting Health and Planning

Client: East of England Regional Public Health Group and the Government Office for the East of England

The East of England Regional Public Health Group and the Government Office for the East of England were keen to identify how health professionals should feed into and help deliver the Growth Agenda across the East of England. BCA conducted a training needs analysis to examine the requirements. We designed and implemented a survey of health and planning professionals across the East of England. This was supplemented by a workshop and a number of case studies. The contract concluded with a series of masterclasses in planning and health.

The executive summary of this report is available on the resources page.

Quote from client:

"The team were very open, approachable and flexible which made it easy to keep in touch on a regular basis and to discuss particular issues as they arose.

Not only a good piece of work, but an enjoyable one too and a great learning & networking experience. The range of associates available to draw upon was very impressive."
